ALEX Brewer has been elected as the member of parliament for North East Hampshire, gaining the seat from the Conservatives.
The Liberal Democrat politician, who has won the seat from Ranil Jayawardena, won with 21,178 votes.
Mr Jayawardena was the runner-up, receiving 20,544 votes.

Speaking to the Gazette, Alex Brewer, said: "I am thrilled. It is a historic result and I am the first Liberal Democrat MP ever in North East Hampshire."
In the constituency 72.41 per cent of voters turned up to vote on July 4.
The constituency, which was created in 1997, has historically remained a Conservative-safe seat with the party holding 59.5 per cent of the votes in 2019.
