HOOK & Newnham Basics had a bruising loss to Calmore Sports, registering merely 47 runs for their initial six wickets at Loperwood Park.
Despite their rocky start, Josh Buckingham's half-century raised Hook's total to 146.
Sadly, this wasn't enough against the Southern Premier League Division 1's trailing team, with Calmore securing their first season's victory by three wickets.
Spirited efforts from left-armer Mark Lavelle, causing three wickets to fall for a single run, helped secure Calmore's win.

A six and seven fours from Buckingham, along with an impressive 20 runs from Lewis Watts ramped up the score.
Calmore's Matt Taylor and Max Bailey steadied as Watts took 3-33.
An added 17 by Joe Butcher and key runs from Lavelle secured a Calmore win.
Hook's second team match against Fareham & Crofton was called off in the 43rd over with scores at 151-7.
