A NURSERY in Basingstoke has been praised by Ofsted inspectors for its "extremely strong focus on children's developing social and emotional skills".
Milly's Nursery School based at Brighton Hill Community Association in Gershwin Court, has been handed a 'good' overall rating following an inspection on Thursday, June 6.
The inspector's report highlighted the nursery's seamless integration of this focus into daily activities.
"Staff swiftly offer help and support to help children overcome challenges," said the inspector.

"This has a significant impact on children's emotional wellbeing and gives them the confidence they need to achieve their goals."
The report also commended the nursery's 'highly inclusive environment'.
"Staff are calm and patient, and consistently demonstrate kindness to all children," the inspector said.
"Children show exceptionally high levels of respect to their friends."
The inspector was impressed by the nursery's approach to behaviour management.
"Staff manage children's behaviour exceptionally well," she said.
"They sensitively help children express their thoughts and feelings with strategies that are unique to each child."
This, the report said, "has a significant impact on children's emotional wellbeing."
The report further highlighted Milly's Nursery's strong partnership with parents.
"Staff exchange detailed information with parents on entry," the inspector said.
"This ensures that all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, receive the tailored support they need."
Parents were described as "happy with the care and learning that their children receive".

While the overall inspection was positive, the report identified one area for improvement.
"Some staff need additional coaching to help them support the ongoing mathematical development of older children," the inspector advised.
