THE owner of a Basingstoke gift shop has said she is 'really excited' for the shop to be run by a new owner as she leaves after 16 and a half years.
Alison Clement opened Alison's Wonderland in January 2008 after working in catering. The 59-year-old opened the shop in Viables Community Centre, selling handmade cards and gifts.
The busy shop was expanded in 2010 when Alison opened a tearoom, however, in 2013, Alison sold the tearoom after being diagnosed with cancer, moving into a bigger location in 2017.

She said: "It has always been a busy shop, building up lots of loyal customers who always support me."
The mother of one went to St Ives in Cornwall on a painting course in 2017, which she said 'sparked my love of art', inspiring her to start painting and use 'sea glass and other beachcombing in my art'.
Beachcombing is defined as collecting objects such as seashells and driftwood along the seashore.
Alison began participating in local fairs before selling her artwork, which included sea glass photos, at Alison's Wonderland.
Speaking about her decision to leave the shop, Alison said: "I am really excited that the time has now come after 16 and a half years at Viables to hand the reins over!"
Alison added that the change will allow her to concentrate on her art, and participate in more events to showcase her work.

The new owner, Natalia Britton, is a Basingstoke resident, living in the area with her daughter and partner.
The 35-year-old has 'lots of energy and ideas and will be amazing at running the shop', says Alison.
She added: "I know my customers will welcome her and continue to shop local."
Natalia said on Facebook that she is "looking forward to carrying on with this amazing venture that Alison has started".
Customers have been expressing their sadness at excitement about the change, with one calling it an 'exciting new chapter for both of you'.
Another said: "Congratulations to you both. A little gem of a shop."
Alison's Wonderland will continue to sell Alison's artwork, including her handmade cards, beyond her final day at the shop on Friday, August 23.
