A NUMBER of GP surgeries across Basingstoke have been hit by a global IT outage, meaning they cannot access patients' records.

The Camrose, Gillies and Hackwood Partnership (CGHP), which owns four GP practices in the town has stated that it is 'currently unable to access patients' medical records'.

It stated that patients should be aware that 'there may be significant delays in accessing our care today'.

David Woods, Vice Chair of the CGHP patient participant group, said in a Facebook post that the practice runs on a system called EMIS, which has been affected by the global IT outage.

He continued: "This system allows them to access patient records and book appointments, access test results etc. This system has crashed, reason unknown at the moment."

Patients are being asked to not contact the practice unless they have a medical emergency, but are still advised to attend pre-booked appointments as usual.

When accessing the website for the CGHP, patients are greeted with a message reading: "Due to a national outage of our clinical records system, we are currently unable to access patients' medical records.

"Please be aware there may be significant delays in accessing our care today. We apologise for this and are working to fix the problem as soon as possible."

It comes as global outages are affecting businesses and users who use Microsoft, with laptops and various systems not working.

The outage has impacted banks, IT firms and airlines all through this morning (Friday, July 19).
