A WOMAN has suffered serious injuries after a crash between a combine harvester and a van.

The crash happened at around 9.30 this morning, Friday, July 19, on the B3349 between Pickaxe Land and The Avenue.

A combine harvester and a van were involved in the incident, and the female occupant of the van sustained "serious, but not life-threatening" injuries, according to police.

Police were called at 9.41am, while fire crews were called at 10.12am.

At the time of writing, the road is closed in both directions from Froyle Rd/The Avenue/New Odiham Road crossroads and Pickaxe Lane causing delays in both directions.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: "We were called at 9.41am to a collision on the B3349 between Pickaxe Lane and The Avenue.

This involved a combine harvester and a van. A female occupant of the van has sustained a serious but not life-threatening injury and has been taken to hospital.

A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of White Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews from Alton and Basingstoke attended an RTC involving two vehicles on the B3349 in Alton this morning (initial call came in at 10:12am).

"An individual was trapped in one of the vehicles and firefighters used hydraulic equipment to release them. The person was then passed into care of paramedics."
