LARGE parts of a popular Basingstoke play park have been cordoned off just as the school holidays begin.
The slide and climbing frame at Eastrop Park play area have both been fenced off, just as the schools close in the borough for the six-week summer holidays.
Workers and equipment including diggers are at the play park.
The council previously faced criticism after closing the paddling pool at Eastrop Park as the weather began to warm up.
The paddling pool at the park was also closed on Tuesday, July 23, with the Gazette being told that the pumps weren't working. It is not known when it will reopen.

The council had announced the reopening of the water facility on July 15.
The borough council has given no warning of the work to the play area and has been asked why it has begun now, what it involves, and how long it is expected to take.
