LOOKING to test your knowledge at a pub quiz? We've put together a list of five challenging quizzes for you to take on around Basingstoke.
In no particular order:
Bolton Arms
Set in the historic village of Old Basing, the Bolton Arms dates back to the late 15th century.
The pub reopened in January under new ownership after closing in November 2022 to the dismay of regulars.
The popular boozer offers a weekly pub quiz, held every Tuesday night at 9pm. It costs £3 per person to enter with a chance to win 'many cash prizes'.
Pub-goers are advised to book early to avoid disappointment and can compete in teams of up to six.
The Holly Blue
Located on the A30 near Beggarwood, this family-friendly pub is in an easily accessible location with a large amount of car parking spaces.
The pub quiz at the boozer is held every Wednesday at 7.30pm, promising to be fun for all as the quiz is aimed at all ages and all abilities. Entry costs £1, and visitors are more than welcome to bring their dog too!
A wide range of drinks, including coffee, beers, wines and a range of seasonal cocktails ensure that your whole quizzing team can find something to enjoy.
Bartons Mill
This converted mill-turned-pub in Old Basing proves extremely popular, as its difficult quiz promises to challenge brainboxes and amateurs alike.
Taking place on a Thursday at 8pm, the topics for this quiz change weekly, varying from questions about inventors, sports, and music rounds for those with well-tuned ears.
Bartons Mill gets busy in the evenings, especially on quiz night, so those desperate to challenge their mind are asked to reserve a table.
The Portsmouth Arms
Located at the top end of Hatch Warren near the M3, the pub is well known for its Sunday quiz nights, which are held at 8.30pm.
All proceeds from the quiz are donated to the pub's house charity, St Michael's Hospice which provides support and care for those facing the end of life, are experiencing bereavement or have a life-limiting illness.
The pub is dog-friendly, meaning you can battle for first place alongside your friends, human and pup alike.
King of Wessex
This boozer in Winchester Road proves popular for its monthly quiz nights, held on the last Wednesday of each month.
The quiz begins at 8pm, promising a 10pm finish, allowing you to battle it out against the top minds in Basingstoke, and still head home for an early night.
If that's not enough to entice you, the King of Wessex also serves food to quell your hunger, as well as darts and pool to ensure you can keep the competition going throughout the evening.
