RESIDENTS in Fleet are being urged to remain vigilant after recent reports of unexpected visitors claiming to work at utility companies.
Hampshire Constabulary said that residents in Leipzig Road, Wickham Road and Woodman Court have reported men attending their addresses and claiming to work for management or utility companies.
The residents reported that the men had either shown them blurry identification cards or none at all, raising concern.

On some occasions, they have checked household appliances, smoke alarms, read meters and pretended to take photographs.
Nothing has been reported stolen following the incidents, however, following the reports, police are asking residents to:
- Ensure that all unattended windows and doors are locked and secure
- When answering the door to an unexpected visitor and they request to carry out assessments on services, ask for their formal identification
- Confirm they are working for the company they state they are from and make sure that their visit is genuine
- If you are unsure, you can always say no
Residents are asked to report anything odd or suspicious to the police online or by calling 101.
