MAGISTRATES have jailed a Basingstoke man for damaging property worth more than £2,000.
Samuel Rolfe, of no fixed abode, on July 4, without lawful excuse, damaged the rear access door to a home in the town, to the value of £50.
Two days later, on July 6, at the same address, he damaged a door to the value of around £2,000.

At Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on July 8, Rolfe pleaded guilty to two charges of criminal damage.
The 23-year-old was jailed for eight weeks as magistrates stated that the offences were ‘so serious that only a custodial sentence can be justified’.
A restraining order was also imposed, preventing Rolfe from contacting one of the victims or going to the address where the offences took place.
