A SERIOUS multi-vehicle crash on a major road near Basingstoke involved two military vehicles, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has confirmed.
As previously reported, the crash happened at around 11am today, Saturday, July 27, on the A34 near Wash Water.
Police confirmed that a man in his 30s was taken to hospital with "serious" leg injuries and the road has been closed both ways for a number of hours.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service confirmed to the Gazette that two vehicles were involved in the crash.

The Gazette can confirm that the two vehicles were in fact military vehicles.
A spokesperson for the MoD said: “We are aware of a road traffic collision involving two military vehicles.
"The incident is currently under investigation, therefore it would be inappropriate to comment further."
Police, fire service and ambulance services are all confirmed to have been in attendance, with eyewitnesses stating that the air ambulance was also at the scene.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary told the Gazette: "We were called at 11.04am today (27 July) to a report of a multi-vehicle road traffic collision on the A34 near Wash Water.
"A man in his 30s has suffered a serious injury to his leg and has been taken to hospital.
"Both the northbound and southbound carriageways have been closed while the emergency services deal with the incident."
A spokesperson from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service told the Gazette: "Firefighters were alerted to a two-vehicle RTC on the A34 shortly after 11am.
"Ambulance and police teams are also on the scene, with the road closed in both directions. "
