WITH temperatures soaring, you may be wondering where the best places are to get an ice cream.
Fear not, the Gazette has compiled a list of places in our town where you can get everything from sorbets to gelatos, in a cup or a cone.
In no particular order:
Greek Street
Chineham Shopping Centre, Wote Street and Fairfields Road
The popular family-run business, which now has three branches across the town, is best known for serving traditional Greek street food.
However, Basingstoke locals have also deemed Greek Street as a great place to grab an ice cream when the sun is shining. Traditional gelato flavours are served to dine-in or takeaway.
Vemillion
Chineham Shopping Centre
Basingstoke's first 100 per cent vegan café, Vemillion, offers diners vegan ice cream in the flavours of 'Oreo cookie crumble' or 'Biscoff crunch' in a cone or a tub.
If that doesn't satisfy your sweet tooth, the ice creams can be topped with a range of sauces and sprinkles. Those who fancy something less sweet can opt for an iced coffee, slushie, iced tea or a frappe to beat that summer heat.
Scooperb
Wote Street
If you're looking for something a bit different to vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry, Scooperb is sure to have a flavour for everyone from the sweet tooths to those who prefer a fruity taste.
Their menu includes hazelnut, Kinder, banana, pineapple, strawberry, bubble gum, coffee and more. If none of those flavours float your boat, fear not, as the shop serves more unique offerings such as blueberry cheesecake, pistachio and lychee.
The G Factory
Festival Place
If you prefer the taste of Italian gelato to ice cream, then the G Factory in Festival Place is perfect for you. Offering vegan and regular gelato in addition to a wide range of sorbets and sundaes, it's the ideal place for a cool dessert when the temperatures soar.
If you prefer a hot dessert, even in the bright sun, then American-style waffles, crepes, hot cakes and cookie dough are also on the menu at the handcrafted desserts business.
Rossi's
A Basingstoke staple, we of course had to include Rossi's Ice Creams on our list. The long-running family business is well-versed in the art of serving ice creams, with more than 50 years of experience.
If you are lucky enough to catch the ice cream van during one of its rounds, or at an event, you can treat yourself to a classic 99, an oyster or a sherbet-dipped treat amongst a host of items on the menu.
For the Nutella enthusiasts out there, you can top your tasty treat with the chocolate spread, or opt for Oreos, Biscoff or sprinkles instead.
