MORE than 12,000 people attended free family-friendly outdoor arts events as part of Basingstoke Festival this year, and now people are being asked their views.

The Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council-run festival, which took place at various venues in Basingstoke and across the borough, was full of music, dance, visual art, acrobatics and street theatre.

The aim of the festival was to encourage curiosity about culture and offer opportunities for people to engage with different art forms for the first time.

"I’m delighted that so many people got to enjoy it and I want to say a huge thank you to all the artists and visitors who came to enjoy performances.

"It was great that even more people had the chance to take part this year with the extended rollout of the festival in communities across our borough."
