IT WAS fourth time lucky for Stratfield Turgis and Rotherwick as they finally played their Cyril Thompson Trophy first round tie, after the previous three were wiped out by the weather, writes Graham Merry.

Stratfield won the toss and elected to bat and scored 200-3 from their 20 overs, as Chris Butcher carried his bat smashing 134 off 45 balls.

He was well supported by Gary Cockcroft (41), while Phil Mitchell was the pick of the Rotherwick bowlers with 2-44.

In their reply they made 103-3 as Richard Williams top scored with 37.

He was well supported by Scott Myers (22) and Freddie Eggleston (18) as Rotherfield scored 219-6 from their 20 overs, as Ollie James and Lewis Watts took two wickets each.

In reply, Hook made the worst possible start as Basheer Walters (3-23) snapped up two wickets with the first two balls of the innings, while Will Bridger and Tom Green took two wickets each.

Hook never really recovered from their early set back as they finished on 156-9, as Tom May and Charlie Neville both scored 35.
