A CHARITY marked its 20th anniversary with an eventful celebration.

Recognising two decades of service to families in need, Home-Start Basingstoke and Deane's AGM, held at Rucstall Community Centre on July 19, honoured the group's work.

Among those in attendance were mayor Dan Putty, councillor Arun Mummalaneni, and MP Luke Murphy who, along with charity staff and volunteers, acknowledged the milestone moment.

Following the official proceedings, led by chair of trustees Janette Hewitt, guests enjoyed a birthday buffet laid on by volunteers and refreshments courtesy of Lavazza UK.

The occasion also had a donation of £500 from the Caversham Masonic Lodge.

Home-Start's anniversary celebrations extend beyond the one-off event.

An ambitious plan aims for 20 fundraising events throughout the summer, designed to generate funds for the charity's ongoing work.

This includes providing essential one-on-one support and group sessions for young families facing difficulties.

Fundraising has already got off to a strong start with a walk, car wash, raffle, and cake sale amassing donations.

Jools Anderson, director of operations at the charity, said: "We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to making our 20th birthday a success.

"But to continue providing the services we do for families we rely heavily on the generosity of local people and businesses.

"We look forward to continuing our mission of supporting young families in need and are excited about the next 20 years."
