BASINGSTOKE pet owners will soon have access to round-the-clock veterinary care, as an independent practice has announced the launch of its out-of-hours emergency service.

The Hampshire Vet, located at Woodland Court, Shortwood Copse Lane, will provide 24/7 emergency care for pets starting from Monday, August 19.

The new service addresses a critical need in the area, where previously, pet owners had to travel to Winchester, Reading, or Farnham to access out-of-hours veterinary assistance.

The Hampshire Vet has rapidly established itself as a key practice for Basingstoke community since opening last year.

The clinic, led by head veterinarians Emily Scott and Jamie Cole, has already garnered a loyal client base.

Emily, who has been a resident of Basingstoke for nearly a decade, and Jamie Cole, who returned to the area five years ago after growing up locally, founded The Hampshire Vet last year with a vision of offering the highest standards of in-patient care.

Since its inception, the clinic has seen rapid growth, providing a wide range of surgeries, including specialised procedures for breeds like French bulldogs, as well as laparoscopic and orthopaedic surgeries.

In response to the lack of local out-of-hours emergency veterinary services, Emily and Jamie have worked tirelessly over the past six months to establish and fund a team that will now allow them to offer 24/7 care.

This marks a significant expansion of their services, ensuring that pets in Basingstoke will have access to urgent medical attention whenever needed.

"It has always been our ambition to offer a full 24-hour veterinary service to Basingstoke as we pride ourselves on providing the highest standard of care," said Jamie.

"We have employed dedicated vets and nurses with specific experience and interest in emergency and critical veterinary care to ensure the highest level of care is provided. Building work will be completed shortly to provide comfortable rest areas for our staff to ensure they are fresh and ready in any pets moment of need.

"This is a huge step for our practice and we are excited to continue our practices growth and expand the services provided."

To celebrate the launch of this new service, The Hampshire Vet will be hosting an open day on Saturday, August 17, from 12.30pm to 3pm.

The event will offer pet owners an opportunity to tour the clinic's facilities, meet the dedicated veterinary team, and learn more about the comprehensive care options available.

The Hampshire Vet's facilities are designed with the comfort and wellbeing of pets in mind, featuring separate waiting areas and consulting rooms for cats and dogs, a cosy kitchen, and dedicated spaces for various procedures.

The clinic is also equipped with an X-ray room, a dispensary area, and an in-house lab, ensuring that most tests and treatments can be conducted on-site, without the delays associated with outsourcing.
