COSMETICS retailer Lush has joined the fight against hygiene poverty at its Festival Place store.

Lush will be a donation point for the charity Beauty Banks, which helps those struggling with hygiene poverty, regardless of their circumstances, gender or age.

Beauty Banks operates like a foodbank, providing personal care and hygiene products instead of food. The products include toothpaste, soap, shampoo and deodorant.

The charity supplies the products to registered foodbanks, refuges, and homeless facilities.

Lush is now encouraging those in Basingstoke who want to help to donate hygiene or beauty products.

These will then be distributed to charities to assist those most in need.

Lucy Fenner, supervisor at Lush, said: "We're so excited to now be a donation point for Beauty Banks.

"It’s an incredible charity providing products that we often take for granted, but without them, it can affect your health as well as self-esteem.

"We hope as many people as possible donated unopened toiletries to us so that we can make a real impact in Basingstoke."
