BASINGSTOKE town centre was business as usual last night, despite speculation that an anti-immigration protest could take place in the town.
Rumours about a potential demonstration in the town were shared on social media.
Circulated posts indicated that action could take place in a number of locations, including the train station, the Crowne Plaza hotel, Apollo Hotel, and Black Dam, at 8pm on Thursday, August 8.

Despite this, the rumours did not amount to anything, with the town centre open as usual as residents went about their evenings.
Police appeared to be monitoring potential action, as a Hampshire Constabulary van was positioned outside the train station until 8.15pm. A police van was also parked outside the Crowne Plaza hotel at around 8pm.
Chief Superintendent at the force, Tony Rowlinson, previously said on Wednesday, August 7 that 'local neighbourhood officers have been out on patrol, particularly in areas where we know our communities are feeling vulnerable'.
He added: "There has been key work ongoing to review any and all intelligence available to us and also ensure the right officers, with the right capabilities, are available today and in the coming days to deal with any incidents, should they occur."
Riots and protests have broken out across the UK, including Aldershot in Hampshire, since the beginning of the month following a knife attack in South on Monday, July 29.
