A DENTAL surgery will be coming to Bramley as plans have been approved by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.

The application was submitted on behalf of Shades Clinic on March 25.

The private practice, which owns three branches in Marlow, London and Oxford, provides a wide range of 'general restorative and cosmetic dentistry' in addition to treatment for gum disease and oral surgeries.

Plans propose building a single-story dental surgery to the east of Cherry Blossom Manor Care Home, in German Road, to support both care home residents and locals.

The application states that the surgery will 'address a matter of pressing concern' as there are 'no dental clinics in operation within Bramley's vicinity' adding that patients must 'travel to nearby towns for such services'.

The dental surgery will feature two treatment rooms, areas for staff, a patient waiting area and reception, a cycle store and a landscaped garden.

The proposals also include nine parking spaces, including two for staff, and an electric charging point.

Founder of the Shades Clinic practices, Dr Saeid Haghri, said in a letter to the borough council that Bramley has 'experienced challenges in providing sufficient dental services to its growing population'.

He added: "The shortage of dentists in the village means that people often have to wait for extended periods before they can receive essential dental treatment, leading to a deterioration of their oral health."

The surgery will be built with red brick and red/brown roof tiles to 'blend seamlessly with the existing care home whilst still painting a separate design identity'.

The care home, situated next to the proposed dental surgery, provides nursing and residential care for 77 residents. The plans also include a footpath between the two buildings to allow for easy access to the practice for those living in the care home.

The plans were granted subject to conditions by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council in a decision issued on Wednesday, August 7.

One condition requires that the premises shall open only between 8am to 8pm on Monday to Friday and 9am to 4pm on Saturdays.
