CRICKET stars, a steel band and music talent will be gracing May’s Bounty this weekend in a memorial day to a former Basingstoke player who lost his life to Covid.
Lee Nurse, 43, who worked in professional construction recruitment and was a talented cricketer, died from Covid in April 2020.

Lee’s great-uncle Seymour Nurse played test cricket for the West Indies, and first-class and List-A cricket for Barbados.
On Sunday, August 18, a memorial cricket day will take place at Basingstoke and North Hants Cricket Club, May’s Bounty, starting at 1pm.
Throughout the day guest players will be slugging it out at the front, alongside plenty of fun for all the family to enjoy. A free bouncy castle, steel band, live music from Jason Gregory and DJ Benjy B will provide the entertainment.
Greek street food and great bar beers will also be on offer.
Following his death, Lee’s family paid tribute to him, saying: “Lee was loved and respected by all that knew him and we are overwhelmed with the kindness and support we have received from the many tributes and calls and messages from across the world is the only thing keeping us going at this present moment.”
