Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council has launched a free advisory service to assist residents in home ownership.

The cost-free initiative will roll out on September 5, providing personalised consultation for residents aiming to purchase their own property.

The service puts homeownership schemes such as the Own Home Loan, First Homes, shared ownership schemes, and the council’s home ownership register on the table for discussion.

The Own Home Loan, which has thus far benefitted nine households, affords first-time buyers the opportunity to purchase new or existing homes valued up to £250,000 with loans of up to £30,000 or 20 per cent of the property value.

The one-to-one sessions are part of the council's efforts to provide more opportunities for residents to own homes within the borough.

In-person appointments are available every Tuesday at the Civic Offices in London Road, with online appointments also offered.
