RAIL users should expect delays to their services "until the end of the day" as trains through Basingstoke undergo repairs.

SWR has said that "more trains than usual are needing repairs at the same time" between London Waterloo and Exeter St Davids.

These services include services through Basingstoke which are expected to last until the end of the day.

A statement from SWR reads: "Due to more trains than usual needing repairs at the same time between London Waterloo and Exeter St Davids all lines via Salisbury are disrupted."

What's Going On:

SWR says: "Train services running to and from these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

"Due to more trains than usual needing repairs at the same time between London Waterloo and Exeter St Davids, some services running between these stations via Salisbury will have fewer carriages than normal.

"As a result, West of England services are expected to be very busy.

"To assist you with your journey your ticket will be accepted, at no extra cost to yourself, on the following services:

  • GWR services between Exeter and Paddington.
  • GWR services between Basingstoke and Reading.
  • Salisbury Reds 25 between Salisbury, Tisbury and Gillingham.
  • Salisbury Reds 26 between Salisbury and Tisbury.
  • Salisbury Reds X7 and X7R between Salisbury, Romsey, Totton and Southampton.
  • South West Coaches 1 between Yeovil Town and Castle Cary.
  • South West Coaches 96 and 96A between Yeovil Town and Crewkerne.
  • Stagecoach South West 1 between Exeter, Pinhoe and Broadclyst (near Cranbrook).
  • Stagecoach South West 4 between Exeter St Davids and Cranbrook.
  • Stagecoach South West 44 and 44A between Axminster, Honiton, Cranbrook and Exeter.
  • Stagecoach South West 9 between Honiton and Exeter (via Sidmouth).
  • First Wessex, Dorset & South Somerset X51 between Weymouth, Dorchester South and Axminster.
