RESIDENTS at a Basingstoke care home proved you are never too old for a hen party when they dressed up and celebrated the upcoming wedding of one of their carers.
Residents at Barchester’s Ashcombe House, in Worting Road, celebrated senior carer Mellisia Irwin’s upcoming wedding with a surprise hen party hosted at the home.
Everyone got involved with the spirit of the hen party by decorating the room with balloons and banners as a surprise for Mellisia who was shocked when she entered the room to be greeted by residents and staff singing ‘Love and Marriage’.

Residents dressed up with hen party boppers and sashes for the 'Bride Tribe’ and enjoyed an afternoon filled with hen party games such as pin the ring on the finger, as well as enjoying snacks and drinks.
Ashcombe house resident Joan Howes, 95, particularly enjoyed the event being her first-ever hen party.
She said: “I’ve never been on a hen night before it’s been a huge amount of fun, we all wish Mel a fantastic wedding and we are all looking forward to seeing her photos afterwards.”
Jose Horton, also a resident, added “ What a wonderful afternoon, Mel is going to make a beautiful bride and we all wish her lots of love and luck for her wedding day.”
Ashcombe House care home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, which is committed to delivering personalised care across its care homes and hospitals.
