A HAMPSHIRE town is set to host its annual FlavourFest, a free food and drink festival.

The event, which runs from 11am to 4pm on Sunday, September 8, will be held at Alton's Public Gardens.

More than 60 stalls will be present, featuring artisan food and drink, as well as a variety of street food options.

The festival organiser, Jenny Atherton, who is coordinating the event with a team of local volunteers said: "It’s fantastic to be bringing FlavourFest back to our hometown, which is free for people to attend.

"The festival is a huge celebration of food and drink and gives local producers the chance to come together and share their fantastic food creations with our visitors."

Demonstrations of culinary skills and live music will also make up part of the event's entertainment.

Younger attendees will have the chance to engage in a range of free children's activities including face painting and biscuit decorating.

Visitors have the opportunity to sample diverse global delicacies, from Neapolitan pizzas to Thai treats and from Greek delights to South African barbeques.

The festival will even feature a garden gin bar amongst other specialties such as West Country ciders, Hampshire ales, and local liqueurs.

On the sweet side, offerings will include handmade chocolates, assorted cakes, and artisanal desserts whereas savoury stalls will showcase freshly baked bread, charcuterie, pies, chilli sauces, cheeses, among other delectable items.

The Natural Cook Company is scheduled for a live cookery demonstration which aims to share tips and recipes.

Though food and drink are paramount, the fest also prioritises fun, ensuring activities suitable for children will be available throughout the day.

Festival entry is free.
