BASINGSTOKE cyber security firm RightCue will be addressing the town's business community about cyber threat.

The event, 'Cyber security - how to protect your business...and yourself', will take place on Wednesday, September 12 at Oakley Hall and is the third in a series hosted by the Destination Basingstoke Ambassador Community.

RightCue's co-founder Sonal Agarwal, a veteran information security consultant, will join three other experts on a panel focused on cyber resilience and compliance especially for smaller businesses.

This comes as the Cybersecurity Breaches Survey of 2024 revealed that nearly 50 per cent of UK businesses were victims of a cyber attack in the past year.

RightCue, which assists customers in achieving high-rated certifications, such as ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials, will offer insights on how businesses can enhance their security against these threats.

Registration for the event can be done via the Destination Basingstoke website.

Ms Agarwal said: "Cybersecurity is a frequent topic in the news today, with stories of cyber-attacks and technology failures regularly making headlines. While the impact on large multinational companies is well known, it's important to recognise that small organisations are also frequently targeted – something backed by research.

"With so much information available, it's easy to feel overwhelmed.

"It's never too early to start strengthening your business's cyber resilience. A successful cyber strategy requires a holistic approach that combines people, processes, and technology, focusing on consistent, incremental improvements. While certifications are important, they alone do not offer full protection. The key is to implement a continuous improvement program to gradually enhance your organisation’s cyber maturity as it grows."
