A major water leak has forced the closure of a stretch of the A30 in Hook, causing significant disruption to motorists.
The road closure, which extends from west of Holt Lane to the Murrell Business Park, is expected to remain in place for an extended period.
Thames Water confirmed that the closure is due to a leak occurred in a pressurised pipe near the Murrell Green Business Park.
The pipe carries wastewater to a nearby treatment works.
To manage the sewage flow and prevent further flooding, the company has implemented a temporary solution involving around-the-clock tanker operations.
Although the road is closed, businesses in the area remain open. However, motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and expect delays.
Thames Water has assured residents that they will minimise noise disruption during the repair work.
"Over the weekend, we isolated the pipe to prevent further flooding and ensure our teams can work safely," the company said.
"We’ll now dig down to the burst pipe to assess the repair needs. We know this is inconvenient and we’re very sorry for the disruption."
