A CHUTNEY business which began in Basingstoke in the 90s is "thriving" today.

When Geeta Samtani and her husband founded their chutney business in the early 90s, they couldn’t have imagined the immense growth and demand they experience today.

Geeta’s, based in Chineham Park, has seen tremendous growth since it first opened, spreading Geeta’s passion for Indian food and becoming the UK’s market leader in branded chutneys.

What began as a small family venture to share a passion for Indian flavours has transformed into a national brand.

Non-executive director for Geeta’s, David Page, said: "Our goal is to elevate authentic Indian food beyond just a weekly curry, integrating these flavours into everyday dishes like mango and Greek yoghurt potato salad, or cheese and mango chutney toasties.

"In India, every family has its own masala mix, which is made up of between 10 and 20 spices. We take these flavours and help people be more adventurous with them.”

Geeta’s vision for the future focuses on innovation through an ambitious four-year growth strategy expanding its product base, whilst also exploring ways to increase its sustainability credentials to appeal to environmentally conscious consumers.

David said: "I looked at quite a few business parks in Basingstoke, however, Chineham Park was by far the best available and reflects the family values we have within the business for employee well-being and sustainability.

"We’re 45 minutes from Heathrow and one hour from the centre of London, so it’s easy to fly into the UK and be in the office in no time."

The team at Geeta’s say they "enjoy being part of the business community" at Chineham Park, often participating in a range of park events, and take advantage of the strong community there; with plans to host their own food events to encourage others to try some of the new products being developed.

Frasers Property’s efforts to build a thriving business community at Chineham Park with wellbeing a key focus along with strong transport infrastructure has enabled the park to attract notable brands alongside Geeta’s such as Conair, TurtleBeach, InstaVolt and TD Synnex to its premises.

Eilidh McAllister, senior asset manager at Frasers Property UK, said: "At Frasers Property UK, we design our high-quality spaces to foster enthusiasm and a strong sense of community among our tenants.

"We are proud to see that Geeta’s has been able to create such a close-knit, community-driven environment at Chineham Park.

"We look forward to supporting Geeta’s continued growth and can't wait to see how the company will flourish even more with our ongoing partnership."
