A BASINGSTOKE man has been slapped with a hefty fine after boarding a train without a valid ticket that would have cost £4.
Charlie Whistley, 36, of Stratfield Road, was found guilty of travelling on a train from Charlton on May 23 without paying the required £4 fare.
On August 20, Wimbledon Magistrates' Court fined him £220, on top of ordering him to pay £150 in costs, £88 in victim surcharge, and the original fare of £4.
Whistley now has until September 17 to pay off the total sum of £462.
