A Basingstoke housebuilder, Redrow Southern Counties, has gifted a lifesaving defibrillator to Pamber Heath Memorial Hall.

The hall, built in 1977 and managed by volunteers, offers various activities for all ages.

The new defibrillator replaces an old one that served the community for more than a decade.

The kit will be easily accessible, positioned on the hall's exterior wall, serving not just hall users but also pre-schoolers, parish locals, and Tadley resident, should they need to use the life-sustaining gear.

Jane Escott-New, chairman of Pamber Heath Memorial Hall, said: "Our defibrillator was over 10 years old, so we really needed a new one.

"We are extremely grateful to Redrow for their donation and ensuring the community continues to have access to this lifesaving defibrillator.

"We are pleased to be able to offer peace of mind and a safety net for the community with the provision of this equipment."

Redrow Southern Counties sales director, Mark Vanson, said: "Defibrillators can make a huge difference in increasing cardiac arrest survival chances.

"We are so pleased to be able to continue this type of important work and are proud to play our part in ensuring that communities have easy access to a device that could save a life."

Annually, the UK witnesses more than 30,000 cardiac arrests outside hospital environments.

Rapidly delivering CPR and deploying a defibrillator can notably increase survival odds.

Though based in Basingstoke, Redrow's Southern Counties division boasts several energy-efficient homes across its projects.
