NORTH East Hampshire's MP, Alex Brewer, has said she will be voting against government plans to cut winter fuel allowance for the majority of pensioners.
MPs will vote today, September 10, on plans which would see the winter fuel allowance for pensioners limited to only those claiming pension credit or other means-tested benefits.
An estimated 18,312 pensioners in North East Hampshire are at risk of losing the £300 payment, aimed to help pay for heating bills in the winter months according to data compiled by comparing claimants for the State Pension and Pension Credit.

The Liberal Democrat politician has said that a 'considerable portion' of residents in North East Hampshire would be affected by the change.
She added: "Since these plans were announced, I have received numerous messages from people who are worried that they won't be able to afford to heat their homes this winter.
"Whilst we understand the dire state that public finances have been left in, the solution cannot be to further add to the burden faced by some of the most vulnerable people in our society, especially during a cost-of-living crisis."
Leader of the Liberal Democrats, Ed Davey has confirmed that the party will vote against the cuts as they 'cannot stand by and allow millions of pensioners to endure another winter in a cost of living crisis'.
