MUSIC lovers will be able to enjoy a fantastic line-up of live music this month as part of a new event celebrating music from homegrown talent and national artists.

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and Love Basingstoke present Listen Up – a dedicated event to celebrate live music at Basingstoke’s Top of the Town on Saturday, September 28, in partnership with local promoters RB Music and Basingstoke Jazz and Beyond.

Musicians will treat audiences to an exciting mix of live performances featuring genres such as rock, jazz, folk and acoustic.

Performances will take place between 3pm and 9pm at venues including The Tea Bar, Laarsen’s and The Royal Exchange.

The new event is part of the council’s work to breathe new life into the Top of the Town by working with venues to encourage more live music and enhance the arts and culture scene in the area.

Cabinet member for sports, leisure and culture Cllr Kerry Morrow said: “We really want the Top of the Town to be a thriving live music hub and we are so lucky to have so many talented musicians in our borough. That is why we want to do all we can to support them by opening up more opportunities to perform in front of audiences in partnership with venues in the Top of the Town.

“I am looking forward to enjoying the host of performances from homegrown talent and hope residents and visitors come out and support our fantastic musicians and enjoy an afternoon and evening of live music.

“Making the Top of the Town a success and place we can all be proud of is so important to us and the Listen Up event is just one of the initiatives that we are working on, alongside businesses, to improve the look and feel of the area.”
