An author and mum is releasing a new book telling the story of a family shattered by suicide.
Caroline Roodhouse will launch Daddy Blackbird on Thursday, October 10, World Mental Health Day, providing a rare insight into the lives of those left behind.
Caroline's husband, Steve, sadly took his own life in 2018.
She said: "When my husband, Steve, left for work that morning in 2018, I had no idea what was coming for my girls and I in the following days, weeks, and years.
"My children were just nine and two years old.
"There was no suggestion whatsoever that Steve intended to take his own life and no explanation has been found, yet we must carry on regardless."

Daddy Blackbird aims to help others understand the reality of life after a suicide and encourage open conversations about mental health and suicide.
Jodie Cooper, a fellow survivor of suicide loss, said: "Reading this story provides much comfort to me.
"There are so many ‘yes, I felt like that too’ moments which makes me feel much less alone in my grief.
"The suggestions for moving forwards are practical yet achievable but also provide that much-needed hope."

The book also delves into the family's history, from their adventures to the tragedies they faced, and ends on a hopeful note, describing how Caroline found strength in herself, her children, and her community.
Amandip Sidhu, founder of the charity Doctors in Distress, said: "This book speaks volumes about the experiences of being bereaved by a traumatic loss, yet leaves the reader speechless in awe."
The book is expected to resonate with a wide audience, providing insight and understanding for those affected by similar tragedies.
Rachel Vecht, founder of Educating Matters, said: "Particularly captivating is how Caroline supports her girls with the loss of their father.
"A profound example of the importance of teaching children how to understand and navigate emotions."
Caroline, a writer and communications consultant, was left to raise her two daughters alone after her husband's unexpected death.
She writes and speaks about her experience to give a voice to others impacted by similar tragedies.
Daddy Blackbird will be available to buy from Thursday, October 10 on Amazon, with the Kindle version available for pre-order.
