A GIN distillery has proposed plans to host wedding ceremonies and other events at the venue.

Bombay Sapphire Distillery, in Laverstoke Mill, London Road, Whitchurch, has submitted plans to Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to host weddings and other events.

The proposal, which was submitted on Friday, September 13, details plans to "provide additional use on site (as indicated on drawings) for wedding events and supplement the existing uses of the site."

If successful with the application, it would allow for wedding ceremonies to be held on the site, in the areas highlighted in the drawings.

It would also allow for 150 guests to attend, with a large area designated for parking.

The Main Courtyard, Mill Bar, Back Mill House Meeting Room, Mill House Garden, Courtyard and Entrance Hall would all be used throughout the day, and the venue will close at midnight.

In consultation, Roderick McDonald, principal conservation officer for Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council said: "Having reviewed the proposals, no objection is raised given there would be negligible impact upon the significance of the heritage assets by the additional use of the site."

A proposed wedding template from Bombay Sapphire states the following itinerary:

  • Wedding Ceremony x 140 in Main Courtyard (Gallery also available – wet weather contingency too)
  • Wedding Breakfast x 140 in Gallery
  • Evening Buffet x 200 in Gallery, Mill Bar & Entrance Hall

Other Rooms to be used

  • Mill House x 2 Meeting rooms for the Registrars meeting before the event
  • Café & Blue Room for changing room for band etc
