Proteus Creation Space, on Council Road, has announced a packed schedule of events including live music and theatre through until Christmas.

Proteus's Basingstoke Music Initiative (BMI), which is designed to rekindle the independent music scene within Basingstoke, will host a series of gigs, kicking off with London-based punk-infused alt-metal band, HAWXX, in September.

October will see an indie rock night take place, and there will be an all-acoustic gig in November.

Theatre enthusiasts can look forward to Proteus' production of Indestructible, which comes to the Creation Space for previews following a residency at Clapham's Omnibus Theatre and prior to a further tour.

The show, set in the world of contemporary art, explores whether we can, and should, separate the art from the artist.

It’s the Economy, Stupid! will be performed at the Creation Space in October.

The show, from the creators of Labels and Fanboy, explores how the economy influences elections.

In November, audiences can enjoy Round The Twist, a play featuring a mash-up of characters from Charles Dickens's novels.

The family-friendly programme includes Town Mouse & Country Mouse, an adaptation of Aesop’s tale designed to keep the whole family entertained on a cosy November Saturday.

And during the half-term break, a Halloween Fun Morning will feature crafts and games.

For adults, The Late Night Assembly will host two themed evenings.

Cockta-Doodle-Do, a unique life drawing event, is scheduled for September, while Musical Bingo will return in October.

The Creation Space will hold Christmas Wreath Workshops, while the Scratch Built x Proteus Christmas family show will run from December 7 until Christmas Eve.

The Christmas family show, titled The Christmas Elf Inspector, will transform the Creation Space into an interactive Christmas wonderland, with tickets starting at £10.
