Steam train enthusiasts can enjoy unlimited rides at the Watercress Line's Autumn Steam Gala.

The event will take place from Friday, October 4 to Sunday, October 6, with visitors having the chance to ride a variety of steam locomotives.

The heritage railway line stretches 10 miles through the Hampshire countryside, with stops at historic stations along the way.

Among the visiting fleet this year will be the unrebuilt Bulleid Battle of Britain Class 4-6-2, No. 34072 '257 Squadron', courtesy of Southern Locomotive Limited.

The Autumn Steam Gala will also showcase the home fleet, including the 41312 LMS Ivatt and the 506 (30506) LSWR Urie S15 Class.

Each day, visitors will have the opportunity to participate in driver experiences, where they can take control of the 3781 Hunslett Austerity with guidance from the driver.

This experience is available for pre-booking at a cost of £20 per person.

Visitors will also be given an insight into restoration projects at the Ropley workshop and yard.
