EASTENDERS and television star Danny Dyer is coming to Basingstoke.

The cockney actor, presenter and all-round geezer, who is loved for playing the role of Mick Carter in EastEnders, is lacing up his football boots to compete in a charity football match in Hartley Wintney.

Former governor of the Queen Vic, Danny is no stranger to the beautiful game, having recently played for England in Soccer Aid for UNICEF back in June.

The West Ham fan will join fellow former EastEnders cast members Dean Gaffney and Ricky Groves, as well as freestyle football legend Jeremy Lynch, taking part in the Sellebrity Soccer charity match at Hartley Wintney Football Club's home ground, Jubilee Fields, on Sunday, October 6.

In a video message recorded by Danny Dyer himself, he said: "You beautiful people, I'm coming to Hartley Wintney FC this Sunday, October 6, For the Ollie [Young] Foundation.

"It's an incredible charity, doors open at 1pm, kick off's at 3pm, I'll be there, there are some amazing people playing.

"Come down, come and meet us, come and raise some money, it will be a beautiful day, I look forward to seeing you."

The event will raise money for the Ollie Young Foundation, a charity set u in the name of a young boy who "loved football."

Steve Noakes, vice chairman for Hartley Wintney FC, told the Gazette: "Wow, what can I say Danny Dyer is coming to Hartley Wintney FC playing alongside Callum, Jeremy and many more great celebrities.

"Raising money and awareness for the Ollie Young Foundation.

"We are extremely excited to welcome these great celebrities and the Ollie Young Foundation on Sunday.

"Get yourselves down on Sunday, see your favourite celebrities, enjoy the day, enjoy the game, and it’s all for a great charity.

"I'm over the moon to be able to get the community together and help the charity, it's a great cause.

"I'm good friends with the owner of Sellebrity Soccer and they have charities who contact them to arrange matches to fundraise, across all tiers from the Premier League to non-league.

"The Ollie Young Foundation was launched in memory of the brave little boy who lost his fight against an incurable brain tumour one day before his sixth birthday and only twelve weeks after first displaying symptoms. There was no available treatment for Ollie, no cure and no hope.

"The charity is based in Wokingham, so not too far from here, and they contacted Sellebrity Soccer to help find a venue, and we were happy to help."
