A SERIOUS crash on the M3 on Friday has sparked a police appeal to identify a motorcyclist who stopped at the scene.
As previously reported, on Friday, October 4, at 10.22pm, emergency services were called to the motorway near Basingstoke after reports of a crash.
A silver Honda Civic left the northbound carriageway between junctions 5 and 6 and collided with a tree.
Emergency services closed both carriageways to deal with the incident, which saw the driver, a 30-year-old man taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains at this time.

Officers are continuing to appeal for information following the serious crash on the M3 and would like to identify a motorbike rider who stopped at the scene.
Police are keen to speak to the rider of a blue motorbike who stopped at the scene but left without giving details, and are appealing directly for this person to come forward.
Police are also keen to speak with anyone who was on Huish Lane, which rns over the M3 at Old Basing.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: "We believe the rider of a blue motorcycle stopped at the scene of the incident but left the scene without leaving their details.
"We’re appealing directly to this person to come forward and speak to us as they may witnessed the collision or have information that could help with our investigation.
"We’d also like to hear from anyone who was on Huish Lane, which runs over the M3 at Old Basing. Did you witness anything, or do you have a dashcam footage in your vehicle which may have caught footage of the incident?
"If anyone has any information or dash cam footage of the Civic, the motorcyclist, or anything relevant to this collision, please contact us.
