A popular singing event for people living with dementia is returning to a Basingstoke museum.

Let’s Sing for Memories will take place at Milestones Museum on Wednesday, October 16.

The sessions are free to attend and are sponsored by Home Instead Basingstoke, with refreshments provided.

The sessions are led by community champions Janet and Dee, and feature a different guest speaker each month.

Ed Adams, community engagement manager for Anvil Arts, opened the September meeting, while Rick Dalton from LEAP will be the guest speaker this month.

Mr Dalton will give advice on how to keep warm in winter.

November's meeting will be opened by representatives from the British Red Cross, who will advise on help available for people struggling.

The event is fully accessible and open to all, but a booking system has been introduced for safety reasons.

A Home Instead spokesperson said: "These fun get-togethers are a lifeline for some people who may be isolated, or those who just need to get out and socialise in a safe environment.

"Attendees are also encouraged to make gentle movements which can help to maintain joint and muscle integrity - so important in later years."

People interested in attending the October meeting are encouraged to apply for a place by emailing community@basingstoke.homeinstead.co.uk or calling 01256 840660.
