A POLICE officer from Basingstoke was assaulted during the arrest of a woman, after three motorbikes suspected to have been used in crime were seized within the space of 24 hours.

Officers from the Northern Neighbourhood Enforcement Team located and seized the three motorbikes while out on patrol in the Basingstoke area last week, locating them in various parts of the town.

At around 12.30pm on Tuesday, October 15, officers spotted a woman riding an e-bike in Woolford Way, Winklebury. A 24-year-old woman from Basingstoke wanted on warrant was arrested and the bike was seized (bottom photo).

The three bikes seized by policeThe three bikes seized by police (Image: Hampshire Constabulary) Later that evening, a second motorbike (top left picture) was seized by officers following an incident in Blackdown Close, Buckskin.

Officers launched an investigation and local District Policing Team (DPT) officers arrested a woman on a motorbike in War Memorial Park. An officer was then assaulted during the interview.

Chelsea Joyce Williams, 24, of Woolford Way, Basingstoke, has since been charged with driving a vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence, using a vehicle without third party insurance, assault by beating of an emergency worker and criminal damage.

She was due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on October 17.

Meanwhile, at around 12.30pm on Wednesday, October 16, the team searched a garage at a different address in Woolford Way and found and seized a BMW motorbike believed to have been stolen..

Officers have identified the owner of the BMW bike (top right photo) but would like to identify the owners of the other two.
