THE owner of a deli and farm shop in Basingstoke that sells exotic meats such as zebra, reindeer and crocodile has expanded.
Village Farm Shop, which opened in Hackwood Road, Basingstoke in 2022 as Safari Sunrise before changing its name, has expanded to open its second branch in Woodley, Berkshire on October 18.
Owner Andy De Beer told the Gazette’s sister paper the Reading Chronicle he was excited to welcome customers to the new store.

"We're a butchery and deli that will also be serving an assortment of groceries,” he said, adding: "We aim to have all of our lamb, chicken, pork, and beef sourced here in Berkshire and then we are also going to be doing lots of exotic things too.
"Elk, reindeer, zebra, crocodile, and all other funny things that are also sourced in the UK."
He went on to say that their range of biltong and dried Wors, a South African sausage with beef and pork, is made with meat they procure from all over the country, and is all fresh, free-range, and grass-fed.
Mr De Beer, who is South African, said most of the groceries will be imported from South Africa.
