An academy has changed hands after an award-winning trust took over.
Chiltern Way Academy Trust has taken over Basingstoke's Coppice Spring Academy.
The academy, now known as Chiltern Way Basingstoke, became part of the trust on April 1, 2024, alongside two other schools in Basingstoke under the same previous trust.
Chiltern Way Academy Trust, a specialist multi-academy trust, caters to children and young people aged 4-19 with autism spectrum condition (ASC) and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
The trust now oversees four schools in Wokingham and Buckinghamshire, in addition to the Basingstoke institutions.
The trust's curriculum is focused on preparing students for employment and adulthood, with students graduating at 16 or 18 for the world of work, further education, or training.
Sarah Stevens, executive principal of Chiltern Way Academy Trust, expressed pride in her role and shared her enthusiasm about the difference the academy trust makes.
Ben Lewis, the newly appointed head teacher of Chiltern Way Basingstoke, brings over 13 years of experience within the trust, particularly in dealing with students with ASC, SEMH, and challenging behaviour.
The academy trust has promised to share its successes and involvement in the local community in the coming months and years.
