AN ADORABLE dog puppy named after a television presenter will appear alongside him on an ITV programme this Sunday.

Titch, an adorable golden retriever labrador cross guide dog puppy, is set to make another appearance on ITV1’s ‘Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh’ this Sunday, October 27.

He is expected to become a series regular, having first been introduced to viewers on October 6.

At present, just a bundle of golden fluff, Titch has a long way to go before he becomes a life-changing guide dog for someone living with sight loss.

He will need lots of love and support – and daily training – from his volunteer puppy raisers, Alan and Jacqui Falder, who live in Alton.

The charity, Guide Dogs, named the puppy Titch to celebrate the start of Guide Dogs Puppy Appeal, which is held every October to mark the anniversary of the very first guide dog partnerships in the UK back in 1931.

Titch’s puppy raiser, Alan Falder said: "Titch came to live with us a few weeks ago from the Guide Dogs National Centre in Leamington Spa.

"He was the first born of the litter of five, and the smallest.

"Titch has settled in really well. He’s a confident and inquisitive boy and it’s very exciting that Love Your Weekend will be following his journey."

Puppies are looked after by their puppy raiser and live in their home for about a year until they start guide dog training.

These volunteers provide a vital foundation for the puppy’s future role as a guide dog through training, socialisation and the introduction of new environments and experiences.
