A housebuilder has made a donation to a playgroup to help with its vegetable growing project.
Redrow donated £280 to Treasure Island Playgroup at Popley Fields Community Centre for the initiative, which started this year.
The money will be used to buy seeds, plants, and gardening tools. The project, which teaches children about food sourcing, has become an important part of the curriculum.
Any extra produce will be given to a local food pantry. The playgroup's community garden also helps with cooking activities using the harvested vegetables.
The playgroup grows crops like cucumelons, giving children the chance to learn about different types of produce. The donation is part of Redrow Southern Counties' Community Fund, which launched this year.
Mark Vanson, sales director at Redrow Southern Counties, said: "We are committed to supporting projects that encourage children to learn about the environment, healthy living, and sustainability.
"Treasure Island Playgroup’s vegetable garden is a perfect example of how communities can come together to provide meaningful educational experiences for children. We’re delighted to be a part of this initiative."
The fund aims to help organisations, schools, and groups that are important to communities. Redrow's Southern Counties division, based in Basingstoke, develops energy-efficient homes in Hampshire, Berkshire, West Sussex, and Dorset.
