The Community Furniture Project has launched its 2024 Basingstoke Christmas Toy Appeal.
This year, the appeal began on Thursday, October 14, with deputy mayor Colin Phillimore, Basingstoke MP Luke Murphy, and various local businesses and charities attending the event.
The project, which is in its third year, aims to collect hundreds of new toys and gifts for children across Basingstoke, hoping to surpass last year’s reach of nearly 1,000 children.
The collection period will run until December 21.
Phelim O’Hagan, project manager at the Community Furniture Project, said: "The Christmas Toy Appeal is a true reflection of the Basingstoke community’s kindness and commitment to supporting one another.
"Each year, we see how even the smallest donation can bring joy to a child’s Christmas experience. We are incredibly grateful for every contribution that helps make this possible."
Families, referred by various agencies, will be invited to select toys for their children throughout December.
The project is seeking donations of new, unwrapped toys, monetary contributions, and volunteers to help with sorting, packing, and distributing the toys.
