A golf club has raised more than £15,000 for a leukaemia charity.

Test Valley Golf Club, in Overton, fundraised for Leukaemia Care after one of their members was diagnosed with a rare form of leukaemia.

The 2023-2024 club captain, John Cogan, along with club supporters, chose to support the charity by holding a summer golf day and auction following senior captain Simon Agate's chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia (CMML) diagnosis.

During their year of fundraising, the club has raised more than £15,000 for the cause.

Georgina Grainger, fundraising manager at Leukaemia Care, said: "The sum raised will help our charity fund our hospital hubs that operate to provide advice and support, like the club's local one in Southampton General Hospital, that provides support for more than 200 people who are living with leukaemia every year.

"We are so incredibly grateful for this tee-rific amount of money."

During the Test Valley Golf Club's Captain's drive-in, which celebrates the change in the team's captains, the outgoing golf captains presented Leukaemia Care with a cheque for £15,476.

Mr Cogan, from the Test Valley Golf Club, said: "We are more than happy to have contributed to Leukaemia Care and its vital support services.

"We hope the amount raised will significantly help to fund their amazing work."
