This weekend brought plenty of drama and determination for Basingstoke Hockey Club, with the teams leaving it all on the field.
The Ladies’ 1s took on Oxford in a high-energy matchup that, unfortunately, saw them fall 2-4, interrupting their season's winning streak.
Basingstoke’s Catriona Handley and Claire Bowman both found the net, but the team was frustrated by a series of questionable calls from the umpires, which threw off their momentum.
This narrow defeat will have them eager to come back stronger next week.

Goals came from Eliot Boyd, who scored twice, with Paul French, Chris Townend and Harrison Spicer-Martinez each adding to the tally.
The game was played under challenging lighting conditions, but that didn’t stop the 4s from putting on a dominant display and maintaining their winning form.
The Men’s 6s headed to Gosport for a gritty away game, ultimately falling 0-2 despite a determined effort.
The first half was a balanced battle, with the score locked at 0-0, but Gosport capitalised on a short corner and an aerial play in the second half to pull ahead.
Basingstoke pressed hard for an equaliser, showing strong teamwork throughout, but Gosport’s fresher legs made the difference.
The Men’s 7s faced Chichester 5s and came up short in a 1-4 loss.
Steve Harmer scored the sole goal for Basingstoke, but Chichester proved to be the stronger side on the day.
The 7s put in a spirited effort and they’ll be looking to rebound next week.
Rounding out the weekend, the Boys’ U14 squad delivered an emphatic 9-0 victory over Havant in their second league game.
With Elliot Kirkman leading the team as captain, the boys were relentless, keeping the energy high with a mantra of "the score is always nil-nil".
Kirkman himself scored four goals, with Harry Marsden adding three, with additional goals from Keir Hamilton and Adam Bowyer.
Overall, a weekend of memorable moments, stellar goals, and exciting comebacks for Basingstoke Hockey Club.
With the Men’s 4s staying unbeaten and the U14 boys putting on a masterclass, the club can take plenty of positives into next week’s fixtures.
