AN AWARD-WINNING restaurant which suddenly closed earlier this year has announced it will re-open this week after a "rollercoaster" journey throughout the last few months.

As previously reported, Festival Street Kitchen, a popular restaurant announced its shock closure in September, due to "circumstances beyond our control".

The beloved family-run business is owned by husband and wife duo Alex and Danielle Menicou and has been a staple in the town since it opened its doors in 2016, before expanding and moving to a new location inside the Festival Place shopping centre in March this year.

Now, in a social media post shared on both Facebook and Instagram, the couple shared their joy that the business will re-open, saying they "can't wait to get cooking again" after reaching an agreement with the landlord.

The message reads: "We are re-opening!

"We have come to an agreement that means we will be re-opening on Thursday, November 7!

"What a rollercoaster but we can't wait to get cooking again."

The business will provide a weekly menu in the coming days, before it opens its doors once again on Thursday, November 7.

The couple announced they are also recruiting, and anyone who is looking for a job should contact: eat@festivalstreetkitchen.com.

Best known for its "big pan" and American-style burritos, Festival Street Kitchen has been serving homemade street food in Basingstoke for more than 7 years.

The couple previously told the Gazette that they are "massive foodies" who were inspired to establish their own unique street food brand after travelling the world.

Danielle said: "We spent time in places like Thailand and India, and the food was next level.

"We knew that we had to take these flavours home with us."

Inspired by their travels, the couple created 38 big-pan recipes, which rotate on a regular basis.

Alex said: "We make sure to use allergen-friendly ingredients, and we pride ourselves on sustainability."

The business is decorated with awards, having previously received the Festival Place Gold Retailer Award two years running, as well as holding a 5-star food hygiene rating.

Festival Street Kitchen also provides catering services, catering to businesses, family gatherings, weddings, and anniversaries, with more information available on its website.
