An architectural practice has been recognised for its work on a Basingstoke office.

Western Design Architects (WDA) Ltd was awarded Best Commercial Renovation/Redevelopment in Hampshire by the International Property Awards.

The award was given for the company's work designing Grosvenor House in Basing View.

The 10-storey building was once a derelict office block, but was transformed into a modern, state-of-the-art office space with a roof terrace, coffee shop, gym, meeting rooms, work pods and breakout areas.

Director of Western Design Architects Matthew Witt said the award was a "true mark of excellence".

He continued: "A lot of hard work went into designing Grosvenor House. We were working with a completely blank canvas.

"The building has been injected with life and character, and it’s astonishing to see the transformation.

"I would like to extend the warmest of congratulations to my team.

"The award is a testament to the remarkable skill, talent and teamwork my colleagues have applied to this project and they should all be immensely proud."

Managing director of Arena Offices, Sharron Domanska, added: "Grosvenor House feels like a shining beacon in the Basingstoke area and it’s filled with such vibrancy.

"I can’t thank Matthew and his team enough for designing such an incredible space."

Arena has been working with the WDA team since 2013.

WDA has supported nine of Arena’s 11 building projects across Hampshire, Surrey, Berkshire and Dorset.
