Ms Brewer continued: “Can the Prime Minister give an exact timeframe in which those who have been waiting over a decade might finally be compensated?”

The Prime Minister replied: “I am grateful to her for raising this important issue because a commitment was made to properly compensate the victims of this scandal. Unfortunately, regrettably, having made that commitment, the party opposite when in government didn’t allocate any money to that compensation.

“Her constituent will be pleased to know that we have changed the approach there.

“We’ve set out the compensation within the Budget, a transparent Budget, an accountable Budget, and we’ll make the payments just as soon as we can.”
