A BASINGSTOKE estate agency which launched in the town to support those moving from London to the suburbs is celebrating an incredible 90 years of finding people new homes.
When Gascoigne-Pees opened its first branch in 1934, King George V reigned, and Ramsay MacDonald was Prime Minister.
Now it is marking its milestone 90th anniversary during which time it has expanded to 17 branches in various towns across Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire, including the one at the Top of Town in Basingstoke.

During the last nine decades the estate agency has faced everything from market crashes to housing booms, but its long-standing experience of the local property market has remained crucial for homebuyers, sellers, landlords and tenants.
Josh Weller, area manager for Gascoigne-Pees, said: “We are so proud of the rich history of our business and of how far we have come since opening 90 years ago.
“The property landscape is not what it was when the five Gascoigne-Pees brothers - Arthur, Harold, Eric, John and Rodney - formed the original partnership, and neither is Gascoigne-Pees.
"Over the years, as markets have moved on and technology has developed, the needs of our customers have changed dramatically, and we’ve worked hard to adapt and stay ahead of the curve.”
Today, Gascoigne-Pees branches offer sales, lettings, mortgage services and new homes, as well as a host of other services and guidance to help home movers, landlords and tenants to navigate the property market.
It says its focus on personal service with expertise is what has kept its doors open to the community for so many years.
“Our values have remained the same and our customers are always at the heart of what we do, so we’re excited to share this celebration with our community who have played a vital role in the longevity of our business,” Josh said.
